Angie was Born in Oceanside, California, and at six weeks old she was transplanted to Des Moines, Iowa, where she was raised. Angie graduated from Hoover High School in 1987. While growing up, Angie developed a strong work ethic; her first job was at age 11, delivering the morning edition of the Des Moines Register before school. She worked throughout most of middle school, high school and college babysitting, bussing tables and waitressing

At Iowa State University, Angie completed her degree in three and half years, making the Dean’s List several semesters, while being an active member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority where she served in leadership roles as scholarship chairman, house manager, and Panhellenic judicial committee member. Angie attended law school at the University of Iowa, where she was a member of Law Review and worked in the Legal Clinic.

Angie started her legal career as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Appeals Decision, where she penned dozens of appellate briefs and argued numerous times to the Iowa Court of Appeals and Iowa Supreme Court. She soon realized that she preferred being in the courtroom to writing about it, and in 1996 she transitioned to the Story County Attorney’s Office where she prosecuted indictable offenses including OWIs, sexual assaults, robbery, and first degree murder.

In 2002, she entered private practice with the Newbrough Law Firm in Ames, where she primarily handled litigation, including plaintiffs’ personal injury claims, family law, criminal defense and workers’ compensation claims on behalf of injured workers. Angie has helped over 200 clients collect settlements or verdicts of varying amounts, including a worker’s compensation death case that paid benefits in excess of one million dollars.  In her family law practice, she helps clients move forward through the stressful territory of divorce and custody disputes. She handles a select number of criminal cases, providing zealous representation to ensure the accused’s rights are upheld. Angie is passionate about seeking justice for those who have been wronged by others and helping the “little guy” take on the powers at be, whether it is an insurance company, the State of Iowa, or an overbearing spouse.

In her free time, Angie enjoys working out, spending time with family, binge streaming the latest series and a good glass of wine.
